I’m Erin Andersen, a PhD student in the English program at the Graduate Center, CUNY. I teach freshman composition at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY and work as an online writing tutor at the College of Saint Elizabeth.
Before coming to the Graduate Center, I earned my BA in English with a writing concentration from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ and my MA in American and English literature from Fordham University. While working on my PhD in the English department, concentrating in composition and rhetoric, I am pursuing a Certificate in Women’s Studies from the Center for the Study of Women and Society.
My field is composition and rhetoric, and my research interests include feminist rhetorical studies, writing center pedagogy, writing program administration, and digital literacies. I seek to confront spaces outside of the composition classroom that can serve as fruitful points for transfer, and to interrogate how those spaces might be used in cooperation with the FYC class in order to better help students connect their writerly knowledge across circumstances.
